Amca is building America's industrial base by rapidly developing and manufacturing critical aerospace and defense components. The company operates seven factories nationwide and delivers avionics, hydraulic, and electrical components for platforms including the F-35, F-16, F/A-18, 737MAX, 787, A320neo, and M1 Abrams.
As a Mechanical Test Engineer, you will own the testing procedures that prove new designs are fit to fly. You'll serve as the extreme owner for qualification tests run during hardware development in the in-house R&D shop and acceptance testing at factories to ensure every unit meets quality standards.
Key responsibilities include developing test methodology in accordance with industry standards, developing and refining test processes from prototype to high-volume production, designing and building test stands, and implementing custom tooling solutions. You'll trade off purchasing commercial test capabilities against designing in-house capabilities, identify and execute capital equipment upgrades, and partner with engineering and production teams on design improvements. You'll assist design engineers in guiding new designs from concept to qualified, production-capable aerospace components, prototype new components in the in-house R&D lab, and help define company design and testing policies as part of an early-stage startup.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's or advanced degree in aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, or engineering physics, plus 1+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing, design, test, or development. You must have a strong understanding of engineering first principles, particularly thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and solid mechanics.
Preferred experience includes 2+ years in aerospace/mechanical engineering, 2+ years with GD&T concepts, experience with fluid and electrical systems, pneumatic/hydraulic/structural assemblies, scientific programming (Python, MATLAB), CAD (Siemens NX), and test instrumentation. Strong interpersonal skills, project management ability, and willingness to travel to vendors and other Amca sites are important.
