Halter is a venture-backed agtech company transforming sustainable grazing practices. The company has developed technology that enables farmers and graziers to manage cattle herds without traditional fencing, quad bikes, or dogs—using precision livestock management instead. Backed by tier-1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, and DCVC, Halter is scaling production of its hardware and software platform.
In this role, you will own the Machine Design function and manage the Production Tooling team as needed. You'll lead a team of mechanical and mechatronics engineers responsible for designing, validating, and delivering production equipment, fixtures, automation systems, and tooling at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and developing the Machine Design team, with scope to manage Production Tooling engineers
- Owning delivery outcomes across machine design and tooling programs: schedule, risk, production impact, validation quality, supplier performance, and line capability
- Translating Production Engineering priorities into a portfolio roadmap covering fixtures, automation, production-enabling equipment, tooling programs, and supplier qualification
- Setting and upholding standards for design reviews, commissioning, validation, documentation, release readiness, and change control
- Building a coherent make-vs-buy strategy and supplier model for machine builds, fabrication, tooling, spares, and long-term support
You should have experience leading mechanical, mechatronics, machine design, tooling, or manufacturing engineering teams. Strong technical judgment across production equipment, fixtures, automation, and suppliers is essential.
