Voyager Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineer VI - Test, a recognized authority in testing and verification for defense and space technology programs. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on designing and overseeing complex testing programs for advanced propulsion systems, electromechanical actuators, pressure vessels, solid rocket motors, hot gas valves, and thrusters.
Key responsibilities include:
Testing & Verification: Lead large-scale, high-risk test programs with expertise in test assembly techniques, data acquisition, statistical analysis, measurement techniques, and signal processing. Provide guidance on test planning best practices and contribute to development of testing frameworks and methodologies.
Systems Engineering: Understand the tie-in between testing and verification/validation of requirements. Develop program plans, understand acquisition life cycles, coordinate activities, and apply foundational knowledge of reliability and safety principles. Lead risk management activities and develop tailored strategies.
Design & Drafting: Possess expertise in CAD modeling (2D/3D), GD&T interpretation, and technical drawing creation. Understand electromechanical actuators, igniters, pressure vessels, solid rocket motor systems, and related propulsion components.
Communications: Demonstrate exceptional technical writing and presentation skills. Provide expert guidance on complex communication challenges, develop compelling narratives, and tailor content for specialized audiences.
Project Management: Lead small teams, manage vendor evaluations, develop procurement strategies, and implement contract management practices. Understand financial principles and operations research.
Ballistics & Propulsion: Understand propellant chemistry, combustion principles, grain geometry, internal ballistics, and solid propellant manufacturing processes.
This role requires deep expertise in test environments, advanced statistical techniques, and the ability to guide large-scale programs. The ideal candidate is a recognized authority who can mentor others and shape testing methodologies across the organization.
