Salary: USD 129,000 - 171,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The Rocket Motor Systems (RMS) team is building next-generation solid rocket motors, aiming to become a large-volume provider of tactical rocket motors with differentiated products and services.
As a Mechanical Engineer on the RMS team, you will conduct mechanical design and analysis of solid rocket motor components, including motor cases, nozzles, propellant grains, igniters, and ignition safety components. This role is ideal for someone hardware-focused and detail-oriented with strong command of mechanical design, stress analysis, and thermal analysis principles.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform CAD design activities of mechanical components
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) of structural and thermal systems
- Generate, review, and release product definition through engineering drawings
- Create reports and presentations documenting analysis and supporting work
- Present to peers and customers in design reviews
- Support prototyping, manufacturing, and test operations at manufacturing facilities and supplier sites
- Own the development of critical subsystems from conception through completion
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience performing mechanical design and analysis
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar discipline
- Proficiency with CAD software and/or FEA software
- Solid understanding of hardware manufacturability and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to travel 10-25% to other Anduril sites, customer sites, or supplier facilities
- Ability to obtain and hold a Secret Security Clearance
Preferred qualifications include experience with NX CAD and Abaqus FEA software, GD&T certification, expertise in engineering tool development (Excel, MATLAB, Python), and propulsion systems experience.
