Salary: USD 85,000 - 126,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology, AI, autonomy, and computer vision. The Rocket Motor Systems (RMS) team is building next-generation solid rocket motors for tactical applications, aiming to become a large-volume provider while maintaining a reputation for quality and reliability.
As a Mechanical Engineer on the RMS team, you will design and analyze solid rocket motor components including motor cases, nozzles, propellant grains, igniters, and ignition safety components. This is a hardware-focused role requiring strong mechanical design and stress/thermal analysis expertise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform CAD design of mechanical components using industry-standard tools
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) of structural and thermal systems
- Generate, review, and release engineering drawings and product definitions
- Create technical reports and presentations documenting analysis work
- Present designs in peer and customer review meetings
- Support prototyping, manufacturing, and test operations at Anduril facilities and supplier sites
- Own development of critical subsystems from concept through delivery
Required qualifications: 2+ years of mechanical design and analysis experience; bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering; proficiency with CAD and/or FEA software; solid understanding of manufacturability and GD&T; strong communication skills; ability to travel 10-25% to various sites; ability to obtain and hold a Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred qualifications include NX CAD and Abaqus FEA experience, GD&T certification, expertise in engineering tool development (Excel, MATLAB, Python), and propulsion systems background.
