Salary: USD 129,000 - 171,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming military capabilities through advanced autonomy, AI, and sensor fusion. The Propulsion Development team designs, develops, and qualifies engines powering Anduril's autonomous air vehicles, moving from concept through prototype, test, and production on accelerated timelines.
In this role, you will own mechanical design and development of propulsion components and assemblies from initial concept to low-rate production. You'll lead technical efforts to define requirements, propose solutions, and establish methodologies for evaluating and verifying mechanical systems. Working in close partnership with electrical, software, and other mechanical disciplines, you'll ensure propulsion subsystems are reliable, flexible, and cost-effective.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drive mechanical design of engine components, assemblies, and propulsion subsystems
- Lead design reviews, conduct analysis, and implement hardware test plans
- Collaborate with vendors on prototyping and manufacturing
- Balance performance, mass, manufacturability, and cost optimization
- Support customer hardware demonstrations and test site visits
- Contribute to team tools, templates, processes, and engineering standards
Required qualifications: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering; 2+ years in a technical engineering role (or equivalent through Formula SAE, Baja SAE, personal projects); proven CAD skills and high-quality engineering drawings; strong fundamentals in machine design, mechanisms, fluids, thermal, and structures; hands-on prototyping and fabrication skills; knowledge of manufacturing processes (CNC, 3D printing, castings, sheet metal, composites); US Person status for export-controlled data access.
Preferred: engine design/assembly/testing experience; GD&T and tolerancing for high-speed machinery; NX/Teamcenter experience; Python/MATLAB for engineering analysis; electromechanical component integration experience.
