Salary: USD 144,000 - 198,000 / annual

Archer Technologies is building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft based in San Jose, California. This role focuses on mechanical integration of powertrain systems for prototype aircraft development. You will design mechanical integration solutions for powertrain components including generators and turboshaft engines. Responsibilities include designing detailed metallic parts and assemblies for powertrain mounting, structural interfaces, and system integration. You'll design inlet and exhaust ducting systems and thermal management systems, collaborating with aerothermal and structural analysts to optimize designs for performance, pressure drop, thermal efficiency, strength, stiffness, and fatigue requirements. Key responsibilities include owning the prototype development process from requirements through assembly and testing; completing handbook calculations to verify system performance and component margins; interfacing with suppliers for commercial off-the-shelf solutions; developing verification testing strategies aligned with aerospace standards (DO-160G); and creating technical drawings and specifications. You'll work closely with powertrain engineers and the airframe team to ensure proper system integration across the aircraft. The role involves hands-on involvement in rigorous, process-intensive testing and supports requirements development and documentation. Required qualifications: 5+ years of engineering experience, Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, exposure to integrating air-breathing turbomachinery or propulsion systems, proficiency in CAD (Solidworks, NX, etc.), ability to manage complex assemblies in TeamCenter, familiarity with Mil-Spec fasteners and aerospace hardware standards, proficiency in FEA tools (NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus), experience designing metallic parts (machined, sheet metal, weldments), fluency in GD&T and manufacturing drawings, and hands-on experience with carbon composites, sheet metal ducting, and metallic structures. Bonus qualifications include aerospace engineering background, electric powertrain or aerospace systems knowledge, product development and supply chain experience, Jira/Confluence familiarity, vehicle development from prototype through certification, Part 23 certification experience, and ARP4754A knowledge.
