Voyager Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Engineer IV - Design to join their defense and space technology division. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on advanced mechanical design for mission-critical systems.
Key responsibilities include:
Design: Lead complex design challenges including actuator and igniter performance optimization, pressure vessel design, solid rocket motor system design, hot gas valve and rocket thruster design. Complete trade studies and provide detailed analysis of design alternatives. Analyze and optimize system performance, incorporate advanced features, and provide recommendations for critical design decisions.
CAD & Modeling: Demonstrate exceptional proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD modeling using advanced commands and techniques. Generate precise technical drawings with expertise in GD&T interpretation and application. Create sophisticated 3D models leveraging advanced software features and contribute to solid modeling best practices.
Materials Engineering: Apply deep expertise in advanced ceramic properties, insulator material characterization, metal properties, and refractory metal processing. Develop customized solutions for complex high-temperature applications, contribute to materials research and innovation, and analyze complex performance issues related to material selection and behavior.
Analysis & Simulation: Build and validate complex finite element analysis models including structural, dynamic, and thermal analysis. Make informed engineering decisions based on simulation results and performance data.
Communications: Deliver complex technical presentations, write specialized technical documentation, and communicate engineering concepts clearly to diverse audiences including cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
The role is based in either Reno, NV or Folsom, CA with in-office presence required. This position is ideal for an experienced mechanical engineer with a track record of solving complex propulsion and aerospace design challenges.
