CesiumAstro is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join its hardware development team in Austin. You will own mechanical design responsibilities across the full product lifecycle—from concept and requirements definition through detailed design, simulation, analysis, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support of satellite communication systems, UAV platforms, and aerospace hardware. Key responsibilities include: - Mechanical design and optimization of electronics packaging, spacecraft interfaces, and integrated systems - Thermal management design and thermal simulation/analysis - Shock, vibration, and environmental qualification analysis using FEA and other simulation tools - EMI/EMC mitigation and design validation - GD&T specification and precision machining coordination - Cost analysis and design trade studies - Presenting engineering design reviews to customers and leadership Ideal candidates bring hands-on experience in aerospace or satellite mechanical design, proficiency in CAD tools, strong FEA and simulation skills, and familiarity with spacecraft mechanical interfaces and environmental qualification standards. Excellent written and verbal communication is essential, as you will interface with cross-functional teams and external customers. CesiumAstro operates in a dynamic startup environment focused on next-generation communication systems for space and airborne platforms. The role offers autonomous, hands-on work with cutting-edge hardware in a collaborative, cross-functional setting.
