Helion is a fusion power company on a mission to build the world's first commercial fusion power plant. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Everett, WA, the company has raised $1.5 billion from leading investors including Sam Altman, SoftBank, and Thrive Capital. Helion's prototype, Polaris, has achieved record-breaking plasma temperatures of 150 million degrees Celsius, and the team is advancing toward Orion, their commercial fusion generator. As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Fluids, you will own hardware designs for fluid systems critical to Helion's fusion generators. This is a hands-on role combining design, analysis, and real-world implementation. You will tackle multidisciplinary engineering challenges essential to deploying fusion energy at scale. Key responsibilities include: - Owning and improving designs for fluids, thermal, and structural subsystems - Designing fusion hardware using 3D CAD software (NX, Solidworks) - Performing advanced analysis with tools like ANSYS Fluent - Conducting design reviews and iterating solutions to full functionality - Working hands-on with experienced technicians to implement designs - Troubleshooting hardware issues on integrated fusion generators - Expanding your engineering skillset through collaboration with domain experts You will bring 3+ years of professional experience delivering full-scope engineering projects with schedule ownership. You have hands-on exposure across fluids, mechanical, and thermal disciplines, advanced CAD proficiency, and the ability to apply first-principles engineering thinking to complex problems. A bachelor's degree in engineering is required. This role is fully onsite at Helion's Everett headquarters, offering the opportunity to work on one of the most ambitious engineering challenges of our time with a team that values urgency, rigor, and ownership.
