Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced autonomous systems and AI. The Tactical Recon & Strike team develops small tactical drones (Group 1-3) and associated equipment for testing, deployment, and operations. Products include Ghost, Anvil, Bolt, and Altius systems powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system for real-time command and control.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will own complex mechanical subsystems for drone products from concept through full-rate production. Key responsibilities include gathering requirements and conducting trade studies to determine optimal solutions, performing hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to develop and optimize designs, and leading design reviews with cross-disciplinary partners. You will build prototypes, define and execute hardware test plans, iterate on designs, and document results and lessons learned. Additional duties include performing root cause investigations for hardware failures in development and production, balancing operational needs across vehicle subsystems while optimizing for development speed, mass, manufacturability, and cost, supporting critical hardware demonstrations with customers, and traveling to test sites and vendors as needed.
Required qualifications include 2+ years of mechanical/design experience in a professional setting, demonstrated ownership of a product from concept through production, proficiency in CAD (any platform) with ability to create high-quality engineering drawings meeting industry standards, hands-on prototyping skills (machining, shop tools, welding, soldering), strong understanding of engineering fundamentals in structures, fluids, thermal, and mechanisms, demonstrated project/technical leadership skills from collegiate or professional settings, ability to summarize technical content cohesively, and a BS or MS in mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience. Preferred qualifications include experience with Solidworks or NX and PLM systems.
