Anduril Industries is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Sentry Engineering team's Maneuver Subdivision, which develops rapidly deployable, ruggedized autonomous platforms for defense applications. In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of ruggedized hardware design—from concept generation through production realization—under compressed timelines. You'll apply first-principles physics to every design decision, lead design reviews, conduct failure analysis, and execute comprehensive hardware test plans to ensure reliability in extreme environments worldwide.
Key responsibilities include designing and prototyping complex electromechanical systems, coordinating across internal departments to transition concepts from prototype to production, and supporting critical hardware demonstrations with internal and external customers. You'll travel to test sites and vendor facilities as needed to validate designs in real-world conditions.
The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of professional mechanical or electromechanical design experience, demonstrated proficiency in 3D CAD (any platform), strong understanding of GD&T for engineering drawings, and hands-on fabrication skills. A BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required. You must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include experience with NX/Teamcenter, advanced degrees (M.Eng, MS, or PhD), background developing ruggedized assemblies for automotive/space/military applications, ability to integrate electronic components (motors, controllers, sensors, radars), and familiarity with production processes such as machining, sheet metal, injection molding, welding, wire harnessing, and 3D printing. Prior involvement in immersive technical projects like Formula SAE, Baja SAE, or SAE Aero is highly valued.
