The Core Technology Products team supports hardware design across aircraft, missiles, ground systems, and maritime platforms, powered by Lattice OS—an AI-powered operating system for real-time command and control.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will own hardware design from initial requirements through low-rate production handoff. You'll lead technical efforts to define requirements, propose solutions, and establish methodologies for evaluating and verifying mechanical systems. Your responsibilities include performing hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to develop, assess, and optimize designs; building prototypes; running analysis; and defining and executing hardware test plans.
You'll work on designs involving tight integration of complex thermal solutions, RF hardware, PCBAs, and cabling. You'll support critical customer-facing hardware demonstrations and use these interactions to better understand customer requirements. Travel to test sites as needed.
Required qualifications: BSME, MS, or PhD in a related engineering field; 2–4 years of mechanical experience in a professional setting; proficiency with CAD (any platform) and ability to create high-quality engineering drawings meeting industry standards; demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills and ability to root-cause and adapt quickly to design and manufacturing issues; high competence with engineering first principles; experience integrating PCBAs and electronics into mechanical systems; and eligibility to obtain/maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Preferred qualifications include experience with NX, Solidworks, or Teamcenter (PLM); solid understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T; experience with mechanical designs for EMI constraints and passive/active thermal management; advanced design skills for CNC machining, composites, sheet metal, injection molding, 3D printing, and PCBA integration; and experience collaborating with electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers.
