Salary: USD 105,000 - 115,000 / annual
ConnectDER is a venture-backed cleantech company developing innovative products that reduce costs and interconnection time for solar energy, EV charging, and home battery storage. The company's flagship product, the ConnectDER Meter Socket Adapter, enables homeowners to access clean, resilient power more affordably. Based in Philadelphia with over 50 employees, ConnectDER is building a pipeline of next-generation energy technology products.
You will drive end-to-end mechanical product development from concept through manufacturing and sustaining engineering. Key responsibilities include:
**Product Design & Ownership:** Lead medium-sized mechanical designs autonomously, translating complex product requirements into detailed technical specifications and design concepts. Create 3D CAD models, tolerance analyses, detailed drawings, and BOMs while balancing performance, manufacturability, technical debt, and schedule. Break down engineering scope into manageable tasks, track progress, and anticipate roadblocks to maintain timelines.
**Testing & Verification:** Own early-stage product testing by developing test procedures, evaluating system capabilities, and identifying edge cases. Collect and analyze test data, produce clear reports, and use findings to refine designs and mitigate technical risks early. Proactively debug design and manufacturing issues.
**Prototyping & Fabrication:** Fabricate, 3D print, and modify components to build prototype units for product evaluation, certification, utility/customer approval, and marketing purposes.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Present technical decisions, trade-offs, and risks during design reviews. Collaborate with PMO, QA, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams on implementation details and supplier selection. Mentor junior team members and elevate overall engineering capabilities.
This is a full-time hybrid role requiring at least 3 days per week in-office (strong preference for 5 days on-site) with approximately 5% travel. The role offers comprehensive benefits including 75% health insurance coverage, flexible PTO, 401(k) matching, and equity stock options.
