Swarm Aero is building the world's largest swarming UAV network and autonomous aircraft systems for defense applications. The company is hiring mechanical engineers across the full spectrum of aircraft design and development. This is a general application role for mechanical engineers with 3+ years of hardware design, analysis, or testing experience. The team is looking for engineers who can contribute across multiple disciplines including structures design (composite and metallic), stress analysis, mechanisms and actuation, thermal management, propulsion integration, fluid systems, materials and processes, and test engineering. You would work on designing primary and secondary structure for large autonomous aircraft, performing structural analysis and margin assessments on flight hardware, designing mechanisms and integrating actuation systems, solving thermal and packaging challenges, building and running test campaigns, coordinating with manufacturing and suppliers, and supporting ground and flight test operations. Required qualifications include a BS or MS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field, 3+ years of hardware design/analysis/testing experience (aircraft, spacecraft, automotive, or high-performance hardware), proficiency in CAD tools (NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks), working knowledge of GD&T, hands-on building experience, and bias toward rapid iteration and testing. Must be able to work onsite in Oxnard, CA and meet ITAR requirements (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident). Desirable experience includes composite aircraft structure, FEA tools (Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys), hardware qualification/certification, and startup or small team environments.
