Re:Build Manufacturing, through its subsidiary Tekna, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a collaborative team in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Tekna, founded in 1988, is a design consulting and contract manufacturing firm serving diverse industries including medical devices, life sciences, consumer goods, industrial products, electronics, and appliances. The company combines design engineering, industrial design, CAD, procurement, production, and quality expertise to support clients from early-stage development through commercialization.
In this role, you will work within cross-functional teams on a diverse portfolio of projects spanning medical, life science, consumer, and industrial product categories. You'll be responsible for designing and developing products using sophisticated scientific and mathematical techniques, ensuring products are safe, effective, efficient, reliable, and profitable throughout their intended lifecycle. Your work will support consulting engagements, new product development initiatives, and production projects.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with design engineers, industrial designers, CAD specialists, quality engineers, production engineers, and project managers to create detailed engineering concepts and designs. You'll provide engineering support across multiple project phases and ensure products meet safety and effectiveness standards before release. The role emphasizes creative problem-solving, out-of-the-box thinking, and working in a supportive team environment.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, software, or related discipline) and 3–5 years of successful experience as a Design Engineer. Proficiency with SolidWorks and/or Creo is essential. The ideal candidate has experience supporting consulting, new product development, and production projects across multiple industries.
