Amca is building critical components and subsystems for America's aviation and military platforms. The company operates seven factories nationwide and delivers avionics, hydraulic, and electrical components for aircraft like the F-35, F-16, F/A-18, 737MAX, 787, and A320neo, as well as military vehicles including the M1 Abrams.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will own the complete lifecycle of flight hardware from concept through qualification and production handoff. You will design, analyze, and build fluid and structural systems while maintaining the critical relationship between customer requirements and build/test engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include: designing and prototyping new mechanical hardware; developing state-of-the-art, manufacturable avionics hardware (buttons, switches, dials), flow control devices (valves, regulators, solenoids), and mechanisms (actuators, switches, pistons); generating detailed drawings, specifications, and risk assessments; performing concept design, technical analysis, and first-unit builds; leading root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions; setting standards for component design and qualification testing; acting as the ultimate authority for components you develop; prototyping new components in the in-house R&D lab; defining and executing qualification plans with test engineering; and ensuring designs are manufacturable with design-for-manufacturability feedback.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's or advanced degree in aerospace, manufacturing, materials, mechanical engineering, or engineering physics; 1+ years of mechanical or fluids design, analysis, or build experience (including student projects and internships); strong understanding of engineering first principles in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and solid mechanics.
Preferred experience includes: 2+ years of professional aerospace/mechanical engineering experience; 2+ years with GD&T concepts; strong project management and technical communication skills; experience designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems; experience with pressurized components; finite element analysis (FEA) software; Siemens NX or similar CAD packages; and test instrumentation and control components.
