Saronic Technologies, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Austin, TX, is developing autonomous surface vessels for maritime defense. As Materials Supervisor, you will manage the complete materials lifecycle for production of these advanced autonomous platforms.
You will oversee procurement, storage, and distribution of materials required for vessel production, ensuring proper inventory levels and availability aligned with production schedules. You'll coordinate with receiving teams to inspect and accept incoming materials, negotiate pricing and lead times, and monitor supplier performance to maintain supply chain efficiency.
Quality assurance is central to the role: you must ensure all materials meet industry standards and specific Department of Defense (DoD) requirements, conducting regular inspections and working with the quality assurance team to resolve discrepancies. You'll implement and maintain an efficient inventory control system, track usage patterns, and perform regular audits for accuracy.
Logistics coordination includes managing incoming material transportation and storage logistics in alignment with project timelines, ensuring timely and secure delivery to production facilities. You'll maintain comprehensive documentation of materials, inventories, and order statuses, generating regular reports on material usage, ordering trends, and stock levels.
As a people manager, you will supervise and mentor a team of material handlers and relevant staff, providing guidance on best practices for material management and logistics. You'll collaborate closely with engineering, production, and other departments to support vessel development and manufacturing, providing expertise on material selection and sourcing based on project needs.
Compliance and safety are paramount: you must ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations related to materials handling, storage, and transportation, promoting a safe working environment and maintaining safety protocols throughout.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in materials management or related field, preferably in defense, aerospace, or maritime industries
- Strong knowledge of material procurement, inventory management, and logistics
- Familiarity with DoD procurement procedures, regulations, and standards
- Proficiency in materials management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Experience with materials testing, certifications, and military-grade standards
- In-depth understanding of supply chain management in high-tech or defense settings
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills for working with receiving teams and internal departments
- Ability to lead and develop teams effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities
