Saronic Technologies, a leader in autonomous surface vessels for maritime defense, is seeking a Materials Supervisor to manage the flow of materials required for production of autonomous vessels. This role oversees inventory control, supplier coordination, timely material delivery, and material-related quality control processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee procurement, storage, and distribution of materials for autonomous vessel production; ensure proper inventory levels and material availability for production schedules
- Coordinate with receiving teams to ensure timely inspection and acceptance of materials; negotiate pricing and lead times; monitor supplier performance
- Ensure all materials meet industry standards and DoD requirements; conduct regular inspections and work with quality assurance on discrepancies
- Implement and maintain efficient inventory control systems; track inventory levels and perform regular audits
- Coordinate logistics of incoming materials, ensuring timely and secure delivery to production facilities; manage transportation and storage in alignment with project timelines
- Maintain up-to-date records of materials, inventories, and order statuses; generate regular reports on material usage, ordering trends, and stock levels
- Supervise and mentor a team of material handlers and relevant staff; provide guidance on best practices for material management and logistics
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to materials handling, storage, and transportation; promote safe working environment
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and other departments to support development and manufacturing; provide expertise on material selection and sourcing
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in materials management or related field, preferably in defense, aerospace, or maritime industries
- Strong knowledge of material procurement, inventory management, and logistics
- Familiarity with DoD procurement procedures, regulations, and standards
- Proficiency in materials management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Experience with materials testing, certifications, and military-grade standards
- In-depth understanding of supply chain management in high-tech or defense settings
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills for working with receiving teams and internal departments
- Ability to lead and develop teams effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities
- U.S. Person status required (U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or protected asylee/refugee)
