Relativity Space is building the Terran R rocket vehicle to deliver payloads to orbit and serve growing commercial launch demand. The Materials and Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) team plays a central role in enabling the vehicle to fly, re-fly, and scale by developing, characterizing, and inspecting materials and processes across all vehicle components.
As a Materials & Processes Technical Specialist II, you will support core lab operations including materials and processes prototyping, test coupon design and fabrication, and test development and documentation. You will serve as a subject matter expert for troubleshooting challenges related to material processing, machining, and testing, working across welding, additive manufacturing, advanced composites, and other manufacturing disciplines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support M&P lab operations and test infrastructure
- Design and fabricate test coupons and develop test methodologies
- Troubleshoot material processing, machining, and testing challenges
- Share hands-on technical knowledge and deep insights to drive problem resolution across the team
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and operations teams to balance performance, reliability, cost, quality, and schedule
- Contribute to scaling manufacturing processes as the company moves toward first flight and beyond
This role offers broad exposure across products and systems, with ownership and decision-making authority in materials characterization, process development, and quality assurance. You will work at the intersection of innovation and execution, helping shape how Relativity designs and manufactures for reusability and commercial viability.
