Standard Nuclear is building advanced nuclear fuel and materials at industrial scale to support America's nuclear energy renaissance. The Materials Engineer will play a key role in developing, testing, and scaling advanced materials and manufacturing processes from laboratory and pilot-scale work toward reliable, repeatable production capability.
In this hands-on technical role, you will work closely with engineering, fuel development, manufacturing, quality, characterization, and operations teams. Your responsibilities include supporting materials development and refinement of advanced processing methods, planning and executing test campaigns and process trials, documenting experimental work, and evaluating relationships between process conditions and material behavior. You will analyze results from material evaluations and characterization studies, use experimental data and engineering judgment to recommend process improvements, and help define practical paths toward scalable manufacturing.
Success requires strong technical problem-solving skills, curiosity, discipline in documentation, and the ability to translate development work into actionable technical knowledge that informs manufacturing decisions. You'll operate in a fast-paced environment where processes, equipment, and requirements are still evolving, requiring both flexibility and rigorous engineering judgment. The role emphasizes hands-on work, clear communication across teams, and the ability to move promising laboratory methods into production-ready processes.
