Salary: USD 170,000 - 215,000 / annual

Archer is building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for sustainable urban air mobility. As a Mass Properties Engineer, you will own critical weight and balance programs that directly impact flight performance and safety. You will lead day-to-day execution of mass properties programs across multiple aircraft platforms, building and maintaining the master database that tracks weight, center of gravity (CG), and inertia for all aircraft variants. This database serves as the single source of truth for the entire engineering organization. Your responsibilities include partnering with design, structures, and systems teams to validate mass assumptions and drive weight optimization decisions. You will manage the evolution of mass data from early estimates through measured flight hardware, tracking every component's journey from concept to certified reality. The role is hands-on: you will conduct aircraft inspections, lead weighing operations on the factory floor, and execute weight and balance audits that ensure flight safety and performance targets are met. You will also prepare documentation and analysis supporting FAA certification activities and ensure all mass properties data meets regulatory requirements. You will drive process innovation by implementing tools and workflows that make data collection faster and more accurate, and identify opportunities to improve how mass properties are tracked and communicated across the program. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or related STEM field, plus 5-10 years of experience in mass properties, weight engineering, or related disciplines on aircraft or aerospace vehicle programs. You must have strong understanding of weight and balance principles for dynamic systems, exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail, comfort moving between analytical work and hands-on data collection, and effective communication abilities. Preferred qualifications include proficiency with CAD tools (NX, SolidWorks, CATIA), experience with ARP4754A certification processes, direct experience conducting aircraft weighing operations, background with eVTOL or rotorcraft, and familiarity with database management or mass properties-specific software.
