Picnic is reinventing the workplace lunch experience by partnering with top local restaurants and batching orders to provide high-quality, individually packed meals to companies without fees or tips.
As Market Manager, you will own the San Francisco market end-to-end, driving new business acquisition and account expansion while building local community and gathering market intelligence.
**New Business & Sales**
You will take warm leads from SDRs and close deals independently. Map and prioritize office opportunities across San Francisco by building type, employee count, and decision-maker access. Own the full sales motion from discovery through pitch, proposal, signature, and onboarding. Work collaboratively with SDRs on territory prioritization and outreach targeting based on your on-the-ground market knowledge. Run a consultative sales process that demonstrates how Picnic solves each company's specific needs.
**Account Expansion**
Partner with the National Accounts team (who handle day-to-day customer relationships and support) to drive growth within existing accounts. Visit Picnic locations to understand what's working operationally and what would increase employee ordering. Identify expansion opportunities: additional offices, more dining slots, higher participation from non-ordering employees. Share field observations with the National Accounts team to flag growth potential and churn risk. Convert satisfied customers and office administrators into referral sources.
**Restaurant Selection & Market Intelligence**
Bring local demand signals to the central restaurant team. Identify underrepresented cuisines, communicate what employees in your city actually want, and flag what works operationally given the building types you encounter. Capture competitor moves, building trends, and employee behavior insights for the central team.
**Local Marketing & Community Building**
Plan and execute grassroots marketing: flyering, pop-ups, office samplings, POC happy hours, and admin appreciation events. Build a robust Picnic community across social channels, industry networks, and in-person activations.
**Requirements**
- 2+ years in growth, sales, business development, partnerships, or account expansion
- Bachelor's degree from a top university
- Proven ability to run deals from first meeting through close; comfortable owning the full sales motion
- Demonstrable experience building and maintaining professional relationships
- Strong communicator, comfortable engaging with executives, building managers, office admins, and community leaders
- Highly organized; able to juggle live pipeline, field visits, marketing activations, and outreach simultaneously
- Comfortable with data: Google Sheets, dashboards, and basic funnel metrics
- Self-starter who takes initiative without waiting for direction
**Nice to Have**
- Early-stage startup experience
- Background in food, hospitality, real estate, or local community ecosystems
- Experience working alongside or managing SDRs
- Event planning or grassroots marketing experience
- Familiarity with CRM tools or operations platforms
