Picnic is reinventing the workplace lunch experience by partnering with top local restaurants and batching orders to deliver high-quality, individually packed meals to companies without fees or tips.
As Market Manager, you will own growth for Picnic in your city, bridging central teams and street-level market reality. This hybrid role combines new business development, account expansion, restaurant partnership intelligence, and grassroots marketing.
Key responsibilities:
**New Business & Sales**: Map and prioritize office opportunities across your city by building type, employee count, and decision-maker access. Own the full sales cycle from discovery through close and onboarding. Work with SDRs on territory prioritization and outreach targeting, leveraging your on-the-ground market knowledge. Run a consultative sales process tailored to each prospect's needs.
**Account Expansion**: Visit existing Picnic locations to understand the real experience—what works, what doesn't, and what drives higher employee ordering. Identify and drive expansion within existing accounts (additional offices, more dining slots, increased participation). Partner with the National Accounts team to share field observations, flag growth opportunities and churn risks, and turn satisfied customers into referral sources.
**Restaurant & Market Intelligence**: Partner with the central restaurant team on cuisine selection for your market, accounting for logistical constraints of large office towers. Bring back local demand signals: which cuisines are underrepresented, what employees actually want, and what works operationally given your building types.
**Local Marketing & Community**: Plan and execute grassroots marketing—flyering, pop-ups, office samplings, POC happy hours, admin appreciation events. Build a robust Picnic community across social channels and in-person activations. Capture competitor moves, building trends, and employee behavior insights to inform central strategy.
You are expected to bring in new logos and grow existing ones—whichever path creates more Picnic growth in your city on any given week. You are the field intelligence layer that makes HQ smarter.
Required: 2+ years in growth, sales, business development, partnerships, or account expansion. Bachelor's degree from a top university. Proven ability to run deals from first meeting through close. Strong relationship-building and communication skills across executives, building managers, office admins, and community leaders. Highly organized, comfortable with data (Google Sheets, dashboards, funnel metrics), and a self-starter.
Nice to have: Early-stage startup experience, background in food/hospitality/real estate/community ecosystems, SDR management experience, event planning or grassroots marketing background, CRM or ops platform familiarity.
