Rain is a global stablecoin payments platform serving enterprises, neobanks, platforms, developers, and AI agents. The company enables partners to move, store, and use stablecoins instantly and compliantly through global payment cards, rewards, on/offramps, wallets, and cross-border rails. As a Visa and Mastercard Principal Member, Rain issues cards accepted at over 175 million merchant locations across 220+ countries. The company is backed by top-tier fintech and crypto investors and closed a $250M Series C in January 2026 at a $1.95B valuation.
The Market Expansion Manager will lead Rain's entry into new geographic markets as part of a small, cross-functional SWAT team. This role owns the complete market launch lifecycle: from entry decision through product launch, local team hiring, and handoff to a permanent country leader. The position requires significant in-person time in target markets and demands autonomy, accountability, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory, legal, and operational challenges.
Key responsibilities include: spending substantial time on-site in each market; owning end-to-end market launches (3–12 months); coordinating with legal, compliance, product, and go-to-market teams on regulatory licensing and product operationalization; defining market-specific deployment strategies; identifying and resolving launch blockers; driving 100-day launch plans with clear workstream ownership and escalation paths; hiring and coaching initial local leadership; proactively identifying gaps and compliance issues; and continuously improving the launch playbook.
The role is deliberately temporary in each market by design—the manager launches the product, builds the local team, and transitions to the next geography. Success requires working across 10+ internal functions and 12+ cross-functional capabilities. This is not a siloed individual contributor role; it demands someone who thrives in ambiguity, complexity, and high-stakes environments.
Requirements:
- 6–10 years of experience in strategy consulting, private equity operations, or operating roles in regulated fintech or payments businesses
- Strong communication skills: ability to write formal documents independently and represent Rain in high-stakes meetings with regulators, investors, partners, and customers
- Business and technical acumen to navigate complexity across pricing, technology, legal, and compliance workstreams
- Proven project management experience driving complex initiatives to completion, especially when task owners don't report directly to you
- Practical, results-oriented mindset: deliver high output quickly despite obstacles
- Intellectual curiosity and willingness to go deep into technical topics
- Genuine desire to travel and spend significant in-person time in target markets
- Based in New York or Madrid, or willing to relocate
- Native or fluent English proficiency
Bonus qualifications:
- Direct experience with regulatory approval processes, market expansion, or post-merger integration
- Background in payments, card issuing, e-money, banking, or regulatory/advisory roles
- Track record of expanding a business into new geographies and taking products live in new jurisdictions
- Knowledge of payment and crypto regulatory landscapes
- Familiarity with stablecoins and onchain technology integration with traditional payments
- Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, or Arabic
- Experience building functions from scratch and hiring teams
