Salary: USD 125,000 - 150,000 / annual
Arc is electrifying the marine industry by rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles. The company has proven core technology, is scaling production of flagship consumer models, and is now extending the platform to commercial applications including tugs, ferries, and defense vessels with signed contracts.
As a Marine Systems Engineer, you will design and own marine propulsion and drivetrain systems end-to-end, from concept through production and on-water validation. Your responsibilities include designing propulsion components (shafting, couplings, mounts, seals, bearings, steering hardware), collaborating with naval architects on hull-to-machinery integration (packaging, weight, LCG, foundation loads, appendage interfaces), and owning thermal and fluid systems across vessels (cooling loops, pumps, plumbing, bilge, ventilation).
You will run structural, thermal, and hydrodynamic analysis to size and validate components before manufacturing, build and execute test plans on the bench, at the dock, and on the water, then iterate designs based on data. You'll release drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and specifications while driving design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly with manufacturing and supply chain partners. You'll partner with electrical and controls engineers to integrate Arc's powertrain into vessels and support USCG, ABS, and ISO compliance while evaluating suppliers for critical marine hardware.
This is a hands-on, full-time on-site role requiring consistent physical activity, standing for the majority of the shift, and the ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs. You'll work on sea trials and in the shop alongside manufacturing and test teams. The role requires a U.S. person status due to ITAR export control regulations.
