Salary: USD 113,000 - 149,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Marine Operations Engineer to support field operations and maintenance of autonomous surface vessels (ASVs). This role combines hands-on maritime engineering with cutting-edge autonomous systems development.
You will be responsible for troubleshooting, repair, operation, and maintenance of ASVs in the field. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting pre-mission testing, vehicle tasking, data analysis, and local operations for multiple ASV platforms. You will deploy globally to support at-sea ASV operations from various support vessel types, typically traveling approximately 50% of the time.
Key responsibilities include writing and executing test plans during at-sea testing, coordinating underway event execution with third-party vendors and partners, and authoring detailed operational reports documenting execution of internal and customer-facing efforts. You will also support software UI design for ASV systems and develop user documentation for all aspects of ASV operations.
Required qualifications include a valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential as First Assistant Engineer (or higher) of Motor Vessels with Unlimited Horsepower and current STCW Endorsements. You must have 5+ years of at-sea operating experience, ideally with autonomous vessels or highly automated systems. Strong electronics troubleshooting skills, knowledge of test and maintenance equipment, and excellent organizational and communication abilities are essential. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work in the Costa Mesa office when not deployed, and be eligible for a U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include experience operating complex maritime systems, integrating surface and airborne sensors, marine operational procedures, foreign language proficiency, vessel delivery and light-off procedures, and ability to read engineering drawings.
