Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Manufacturing Process Development Engineer to join its Manufacturing Engineering team in Ohio. The role focuses on designing, optimizing, and implementing robust manufacturing processes for defense products, with emphasis on manual assembly operations, dispensing applications, and technical documentation.
Key responsibilities include designing and optimizing manual assembly processes for high-volume, low-mix production environments; developing comprehensive manufacturing work instructions and process documentation with visual aids; engineering and optimizing dispensing operations for adhesives, sealants, and thermal materials; providing active lineside support during production to address process deviations; conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive measures; collaborating with design engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturability; evaluating and implementing process improvements to reduce cycle time and defects; developing and validating process parameters with clear control limits; supporting new product introductions from prototype to production; participating in design reviews to provide manufacturing feedback; and utilizing AS9100 standards for process development and issue resolution.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, with 3+ years of manufacturing process development experience, preferably in high-reliability industries. Required expertise includes creating detailed work instructions and manufacturing documentation, optimizing manual assembly operations, applying lean manufacturing principles, troubleshooting and problem-solving, dispensing technology optimization, CAD proficiency for assembly documentation and tooling design, cross-functional collaboration, manufacturing execution systems knowledge, and the ability to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include defense, aerospace, or high-reliability manufacturing experience; Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles knowledge; Statistical Process Control (SPC) and capability studies familiarity; and Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
Note: The role includes a 6-month temporary training period in Santa Ana, CA on 2nd shift (3 PM–11:30 PM PT) before transitioning to the permanent Ashville, OH location.
