Tonal is seeking a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer based in Taipei to support sustaining engineering efforts on its product line. You will join the operations team developing solutions to overcome existing design challenges that combine complex mechanical and electronic systems, working from concept and prototyping through high-volume production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and maintain updates to mechanical parts and systems
- Develop and deliver design improvements on current models and provide feedback for next-generation products
- Work across cross-functional groups to understand context, goals, and constraints
- Communicate deliverables clearly to upper management
- Plan and lead cost-savings projects
- Generate concepts and solutions to improve product performance, quality, and process yields
- Manage development through prototype, test, and iteration cycles
- Perform environmental and mechanical testing in collaboration with in-house test technicians
- Own sub-systems and key partnerships with contract manufacturers
- Expand and improve team capabilities, processes, and expertise
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (minimum)
- 5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
- Mechanism design experience
- Demonstrated FEA (Finite Element Analysis) expertise
- Expertise in part/assembly design and 3D modeling (Solidworks preferred)
- Strong understanding of material properties
- Experience with a variety of materials and manufacturing technologies
- Full product lifecycle and design experience maintaining multiple configuration levels
- Experience working with contract manufacturers, ideally in Asia and/or Mexico
- Hands-on problem-solving and prototyping expertise
- Collaborative style and ability to navigate a growing organization
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
- Preferred: background in automotive, aerospace, exercise equipment, industrial equipment, major appliances, or robotics
