Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to join its Manufacturing Engineering department in Asheville, Ohio. This role supports the continuous operations and world-class manufacturing of cutting-edge defense products powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system.
In this position, you will drive Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) by continuously enhancing critical manufacturing systems, including PLC/HMI logic, robotics, mechanical and electrical subsystems, and conveyance infrastructure. You will analyze and optimize production equipment to ensure safety while maximizing effectiveness and cost efficiency, while maintaining world-class quality levels. Key responsibilities include championing continuous improvement projects to maximize yield, cycle time, and equipment availability; collaborating with process engineering and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues; supporting the aggressive ramp of newly launched products to full-scale production; developing SCADA systems to monitor and process real-time production data; and performing root cause analysis on equipment failures to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field, plus 5+ years of manufacturing environment experience focused on equipment engineering, automation, or reliability. You must demonstrate expertise in programming and troubleshooting PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMIs, and industrial automation systems; strong understanding of robotics, motion control systems, and mechanical/electrical subsystems; proven ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma) with measurable OEE gains; and excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. An active U.S. Secret security clearance is required.
Preferred qualifications include experience with vision systems for automated inspection, CAD software proficiency (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt), and prior defense, aerospace, or med-tech industry experience.
Note: This role includes a temporary 3-month training period at Santa Ana, CA before transitioning to the Asheville, OH location.
