Impulse is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to own the design for manufacturability and production processes for tank weldments and primary structures on the Helios kick-stage vehicle. This is a hands-on technical role in a fast-paced, development-heavy environment where you will drive aggressive timelines and rapid design iterations. Key responsibilities include: - Own the complete manufacturing lifecycle for assigned hardware projects, from design phase through production - Select and evaluate manufacturing processes (fusion welding, solid-state welding, machining, non-destructive examination, mechanical joining) and define associated requirements - Provide subject matter expertise on primary structure manufacturing, participate in design trades, and sign off on critical manufacturing decisions - Design, build, and activate factory production cells, including facility layouts, material flow, process workflows, lifting/rigging solutions, and infrastructure planning - Optimize and accelerate existing manufacturing processes for tank integration and supporting structures - Work directly with machinists, welders, and technicians to ensure hardware meets technical requirements; gather feedback to improve design for manufacturability - Provide technical guidance to external vendors and support supply chain development - Drive continuous improvement through design updates, process refinement, and documentation - Support manufacturing capital projects including facility activations, automation initiatives, and new capability development Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field - 3+ years of demonstrated hands-on manufacturing experience - Proven experience developing manufacturing processes - Background working in hardware development environments - Proficiency with CAD software and ability to learn new tools quickly - Ability to work effectively in both rapid, scrappy development environments and mature, highly controlled production settings
