Voyager Technologies is a defense, national security, and space technology company developing mission-critical solutions for advanced defense and space applications. The Manufacturing Engineer, Optics role is responsible for developing, improving, documenting, validating, and sustaining manufacturing processes for optical and optomechanical hardware assembly, alignment, inspection, testing, handling, and integration.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, document, and improve optical and optomechanical manufacturing processes, work instructions, travelers, routings, process specifications, tooling, fixtures, and production controls
- Support new product introduction, prototype builds, pilot production, production release, capacity planning, and sustaining production within the optics lab
- Translate engineering requirements into repeatable, scalable production methods
- Collaborate with operations, optical engineering, quality, supply chain, and program teams
- Ensure achievement of safety, cleanliness, optical performance, quality, delivery, cost, and production-readiness objectives
- Support optical engineering teams in process validation and performance optimization
- Participate in design reviews and manufacturing feasibility assessments
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization
The role requires strong technical expertise in optical manufacturing, process engineering, and quality systems. Success depends on the ability to translate complex engineering requirements into practical, repeatable manufacturing solutions while maintaining the highest standards of precision and quality required for defense and space applications. Scope and independence increase with experience level.
