Muon Space is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to join the Testbeds & EGSE team, responsible for building Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) testbeds and electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) that support satellite assembly, integration, and testing across multiple missions.
In this role, you will own the team's procedure and work-instruction documentation system, ensuring repeatability and clarity as infrastructure scales. You'll write and maintain assembly, checkout, and maintenance procedures for testbeds and EGSE by shadowing engineering builds and capturing steps at the source. Your responsibilities include keeping existing procedures current as designs evolve, maintaining the team's internal knowledge base, and updating testbed block diagrams and system documentation as configurations change across missions.
You'll serve as the primary point of contact for HITL maintenance communications, coordinating downtime and status updates with dependent teams. Working closely with technicians on the floor, you'll iterate on procedures until proven and train the team on documentation standards. You'll also identify process and buildability improvements from build feedback and channel design-for-assembly insights back to design engineers.
The role requires 5+ years of manufacturing, test, or hardware engineering experience with significant ownership of procedures and documentation. You must have an electrical engineering or embedded software background strong enough to read schematics, block diagrams, and follow software-driven test flows. Excellent technical writing skills, hands-on hardware fluency, and experience with documentation or PLM tools are essential. A B.S. in engineering or equivalent hands-on experience is required.
Nice-to-have qualifications include HITL or test lab experience, experience building documentation systems from scratch, familiarity with Confluence or similar platforms, Python scripting skills, aerospace industry background, and Linux development environment familiarity.
This is a full-time, onsite position requiring 5 days per week at the San Jose location.
