Relativity Space is building the Terran R rocket to deliver payloads to orbit using advanced 3D printing and manufacturing technologies. The Stage Manufacturing team owns the build of Terran R's primary structures, focusing on turning design into reality through innovative manufacturing processes and systems.
As a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will be a key technical contributor on the primary structures team, working at the intersection of design and production. Your responsibilities include providing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback to structures teams during development, prototype, and flight build phases. You'll collaborate closely with design engineers, manufacturing specialists, reliability engineers, internal production teams, and external vendors to solve complex manufacturing challenges.
You will spend significant time on the shop floor, covering primary structure work center assembly operations, identifying and clearing barriers to keep production moving. You'll champion process improvements across multiple work centers, incorporating learnings from the first Terran R build to optimize assembly operations and scale manufacturing efficiency.
A core part of your role is creating and standardizing work instructions, specifications, and best practices across high-fidelity manufacturing processes. You'll help establish standardized processes across the manufacturing team and drive continuous improvement in how the factory builds rockets.
