Rocket Lab is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to join its avionics and test team in Long Beach. This role centers on hands-on debugging of electro-mechanical and avionics systems, optimizing manufacturing processes, and supporting product design for manufacturability. You will troubleshoot production issues, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive continuous process improvements across Rocket Lab's factories. Key responsibilities include: - Hands-on debugging and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical and avionics systems in production environments - Optimizing manufacturing processes to improve quality, reduce cost, and accelerate build rates - Supporting product design for manufacturability (DFM) and transitioning designs from engineering to full-scale production - Designing, implementing, and supporting production lines and build areas - Conducting environmental acceptance and production acceptance testing (vibration, shock, thermal, vacuum) - Collaborating with engineering, operations, and quality teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges - Applying methodologies such as DFMEA, PFMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and root cause/corrective action analysis Required qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or similar discipline - 2+ years of technical experience in manufacturing, production, or process engineering environments - Hands-on problem-solving experience in complex manufacturing systems - Ability to deliver on complex assignments with autonomy - Foundational knowledge of complex manufacturing processes - Hands-on technical experience debugging electro-mechanical systems Desired qualifications: - Experience with environmental and production acceptance testing (vibration, shock, thermal, vacuum) - Understanding of instrumentation, interfaces, and sensors (power supplies, oscilloscopes, serial devices, accelerometers, thermocouples, RTDs, 4-20mA sensors) - Experience designing and supporting production lines and build areas - Background transitioning products from design to production in fast-paced, iterative environments - Demonstrated expertise with DFMEA, PFMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and Pareto analysis Rocket Lab offers competitive base pay plus company stock, industry-leading benefits including medical/dental/vision, paid time off, 401(k) matching, employee stock purchase program (15% discount), paid parental leave, subsidized EV charging, onsite fitness centers, and employee discounts.
