Rocket Lab is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I to support avionics and test operations at their Long Beach facility. This hands-on role focuses on debugging electro-mechanical and avionics systems, optimizing manufacturing processes, and supporting design-for-manufacturability initiatives. You will troubleshoot production issues, collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams, and drive continuous process improvements in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include: - Hands-on debugging and testing of avionics and electro-mechanical systems - Optimization of manufacturing processes for quality, cost, and build rate - Support for transitioning designs from development to full-scale production - Troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of production issues - Cross-functional collaboration with design, quality, and operations teams - Implementation of process improvements using methodologies like DFMEA and PFMEA Required qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field - Technical experience in manufacturing, production, or process engineering - Hands-on problem-solving experience in complex manufacturing systems - Ability to work autonomously on complex assignments - Foundational knowledge of complex manufacturing processes - Hands-on experience debugging electro-mechanical systems Desirable experience includes: - Environmental acceptance and production acceptance testing (vibration, shock, thermal, vacuum) - Instrumentation, sensors, and test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, accelerometers, thermocouples, RTDs) - Production line design and implementation - Product transition from design to production in iterative environments - DFMEA, PFMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and root-cause analysis methodologies The role involves occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.
