Hadrian is building autonomous factories that enable aerospace and defense manufacturers to produce rockets, satellites, jets, and ships significantly faster and cheaper. The company combines advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing expertise to reindustrialize American production. Hadrian is expanding rapidly, launching Factory 3 in Mesa, Arizona, and introducing a Factory-as-a-Service model.
As a Manufacturing Engineer on the Battery Pack Assembly team, you will drive the development of a pilot battery pack assembly line from concept to production-ready operations. This is a hands-on role working alongside the Battery Pack Engineering Lead and a small specialist team. You'll own process development, fixturing design, tooling, and continuous improvement across the entire assembly workflow.
Key responsibilities include: developing and documenting assembly processes (cell intake, module/pack build, busbar assembly, thermal management, enclosure, potting); supporting cell joining process development (laser, ultrasonic, resistance welding) with parameter development and qualification builds; designing and building fixturing and stations with eventual automation in mind; writing work instructions and process control plans; supporting electrical test and pack-level acceptance testing; implementing cell-level traceability and lot control; conducting root cause analysis and driving yield/throughput/cost improvements; ensuring battery safety compliance (UN 38.3, thermal runaway mitigation); and partnering cross-functionally with design, automation, supply chain, quality, and program teams.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or related field; 2+ years manufacturing or process engineering experience, ideally with battery pack/module assembly or electro-mechanical assembly exposure; working knowledge of cell joining or precision joining processes; experience developing fixturing, tooling, or work instructions; comfort working on production floors; strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills; ability to operate with limited direction in fast-moving environments; U.S. Person status (citizen or lawful permanent resident) per ITAR; ability to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include direct battery pack assembly experience in aerospace/defense/UAS/eVTOL/EV applications, weld development experience for tabs and busbars, familiarity with battery safety standards (UN 38.3, UL/IEC), electrical test/formation experience, automation/robotics exposure, traceability systems experience, and startup manufacturing background.
