Impulse is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in avionics and RF electronics to join their space hardware team in Redondo Beach. You will own manufacturing readiness, production support, and test execution for RF hardware used in flight avionics systems.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing manufacturing processes for avionics RF hardware—radios, antennas, antenna hats, RF mechanical assemblies, and printed circuit board assemblies. You will analyze manufacturing and test data to reduce defects, improve quality, and increase first-pass yield. During prototype and production builds, you'll support failure analysis to determine root causes and provide design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) feedback to electrical and mechanical design teams.
You will support production testing of RF and avionics hardware, including functional, performance, acceptance, and environmental testing. When RF test failures occur, you'll troubleshoot to determine whether the issue stems from the hardware, test setup, instrumentation, or automated test systems. You'll also maintain and improve automated test systems by reviewing logs, troubleshooting failures, and making configuration or software adjustments.
Additional duties include developing and maintaining production and test procedures, work instructions, manufacturing documentation, and troubleshooting guides. You'll provide day-to-day support to the production floor, resolve build and test issues, and train manufacturing and test technicians. Cross-functional collaboration with design and test automation teams ensures avionics and RF hardware meet reliability and performance requirements for space environments.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field. Minimum 2+ years of manufacturing engineering, test engineering, electrical engineering, or production support experience with space-grade or RF electronic hardware. Strong ability to systematically troubleshoot failures and distinguish between device failures, manufacturing defects, test equipment problems, and software/automation issues. Experience interpreting electrical schematics, engineering drawings, test procedures, and manufacturing documentation. Background in failure analysis and root-cause investigation of electronic hardware. Experience working with technicians on process improvement and technical training.
