Varda Space Industries is building commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems and reentry capsules. As an Electromechanical Manufacturing Engineer, you will own end-to-end manufacturing and assembly processes for Varda's spacecraft electromechanical systems—wire harness fabrication, connector installation, actuator integration, and cable routing. You'll develop and maintain detailed work instructions, assembly procedures, and acceptance test protocols. You'll serve as the primary manufacturing interface for payload customers, translating Interface Control Documents into executable production processes. Key responsibilities include implementing contamination control and cleanliness protocols for sensitive pharmaceutical and optical components, collaborating with design engineers on design-for-manufacturability feedback, defining and executing payload acceptance testing with complete traceability, leading root cause analysis on non-conformances, and coordinating payload integration milestones with the vehicle integration team. The role demands a builder's mindset: comfort with wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement. You'll work directly with production technicians and drive incremental, documented improvements across every vehicle build. Required: B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent 3–6+ years professional experience); 3+ years manufacturing experience with electromechanical assemblies in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability industries; demonstrated expertise with wire harness fabrication, IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards, and MIL-spec connectors; ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams; strong first-principles problem-solving; excellent collaboration skills. Preferred: M.S. in Electrical Engineering (Embedded Systems, Microelectronics, RF, or Control Systems); spacecraft or launch vehicle electromechanical integration in production environments; ESD control and grounding/bonding familiarity. Physical requirements: ability to regularly lift 25 lbs., bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
