Valar Atomics is building advanced nuclear systems to make clean, high-temperature nuclear power scalable for industry, hydrogen production, and next-generation manufacturing. The company is developing factory-made, rapidly deployable nuclear systems with a pilot plant planned for Orangeville, Utah.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will own the execution, improvement, and scalability of hardware builds across development and production programs. This is a hands-on role that bridges engineering intent and manufacturing reality, requiring significant time on the shop floor working directly with technicians, machinists, welders, and fabricators.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning day-to-day manufacturing execution for prototype, development, and early production hardware builds
- Diagnosing and resolving fit-up, tolerance, alignment, assembly, and yield issues during production
- Designing and implementing fixtures, jigs, gauges, tooling, and test setups to improve efficiency and repeatability
- Developing and continuously improving manufacturing processes, assembly procedures, and work instructions
- Driving design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) improvements based on production feedback
- Collaborating with design engineers to ensure hardware can be built efficiently, repeatedly, and to the quality standards required for advanced nuclear systems
You will be successful if hardware moves through the shop faster and with fewer surprises due to your involvement. This role requires hands-on problem-solving, process optimization, and the ability to work effectively across engineering and operations teams in a fast-moving, hardware-focused environment.
