Sila Nanotechnologies is a next-generation battery materials company on a mission to power the world's transition to clean energy. The company engineers and manufactures breakthrough battery materials that significantly increase energy density while reducing size and weight, enabling smaller, more powerful batteries for consumer devices and electric vehicles. As Manufacturing Engineer, you will serve as Sila's primary technical representative supporting battery cell manufacturing across contract manufacturing sites in Taiwan. You will be the key liaison between supplier operations and Sila's engineering, quality, and supply chain teams, driving manufacturing readiness from early development phases (EVT, DVT, PVT) through ramp-up and mass production. Key responsibilities include: **On-Site Operations & Production Readiness:** Provide direct technical and operational leadership at supplier facilities. Monitor critical operational metrics including throughput, yield, equipment utilization, and project schedules. Drive manufacturing readiness across all product development phases and scale-up. **Technical Troubleshooting & Quality Assurance:** Lead on-site technical troubleshooting and quality investigations for process deviations and Critical-to-Quality issues. Evaluate root causes, verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and escalate issues requiring engineering approval. Analyze process data and SPC trends to implement continuous improvement initiatives. **Governance & Supplier Management:** Coordinate cross-functional execution by managing engineering documentation, resolving specification ambiguities, and tracking action items. Standardize manufacturing practices and reporting metrics across multiple supplier sites. Support supplier qualification and long-term manufacturing scalability. Required qualifications: B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Electrical, or Manufacturing) with 5+ years of direct lithium-ion battery manufacturing experience. Proven track record collaborating with contract manufacturers. Solid proficiency in battery manufacturing quality systems, process validation, SPC/DOE, and root cause analysis. Strong ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications. Excellent cross-functional communication and influence skills. Native or fluent Mandarin (spoken, reading, writing) and professional English proficiency required. Preferred: Experience leading battery manufacturing scale-up for pouch or cylindrical cells. Hands-on experience with MES and ERP systems. Prior cross-time-zone collaboration experience bridging US and Asian operations. Full-time on-site position in Taiwan with frequent factory floor presence and regular travel between supplier facilities.
