Lightship is the first American all-electric recreational vehicle manufacturer, developing aerodynamic, battery-powered trailers for the electric age. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will help build the processes, tooling, and documentation that the production floor runs on—much of which doesn't yet exist in mature form.
You'll evaluate current vehicle-building methods and design safer, faster, and better ways to manufacture. Working directly with technicians, peer engineering, and quality teams, you'll solve real floor problems and translate solutions into repeatable processes including work instructions, tooling fixtures, and time standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Interpreting engineering drawings and applying manufacturing knowledge to design efficient, high-quality processes, jigs, and workstations
- Selecting and procuring equipment, tools, and fixtures that meet Lightship specifications, balancing near-term need with long-term reliability
- Applying structured problem-solving and process improvement methods (Lean, Six Sigma) to reduce waste and improve quality
- Supporting line capacity planning and leading yield improvement projects in collaboration with production and engineering
- Estimating manufacturing costs, determining time standards, and recommending tooling and process requirements
- Investigating quality feedback, driving corrective action, and confirming effectiveness
- Developing and maintaining production documentation (work instructions and test procedures)
- Completing readiness assessments and supporting successful launches into production
- Providing floor-level troubleshooting support and guidance to production personnel
- Participating in daily standups to keep the team aligned on daily goals
This is a full-time, in-person role requiring 5 days per week in the Broomfield office, with willingness to work extended hours and weekends when necessary. The company operates with a flat organizational structure emphasizing collaboration, integrity, autonomy, and creativity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of experience in a hardware manufacturing environment
- CAD experience for jig, fixture, and workstation design
- Experience building or substantially reworking manufacturing processes, tooling, or documentation
- Ability to read and apply GD&T drawings and technical documents
- Comfortable planning capacity, floor layout, and line balancing
- Solid working knowledge of Google Workspace or equivalent tools
- Self-motivated, able to multitask, and thrives under general direction in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
- Strong interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills
Preferred qualifications include experience in automotive, aerospace, or other regulated manufacturing environments; CATIA CAD experience; NPI and transition-to-production experience; project management experience; Atlassian suite proficiency (Jira/Confluence); facility layout and expansion experience; MES system implementation and troubleshooting; and DFM/DFA feedback experience with complex electro-mechanical systems.
