Airbound is building the world's most efficient aircraft from the ground up, targeting a dramatic reduction in drone delivery costs from ₹100/km to 10 paise/km. The company is scaling manufacturing to volumes unprecedented in aerospace.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead the transition from prototype-scale production to high-volume manufacturing. This role spans the full manufacturing lifecycle: design for manufacturability, process development, facility design, and equipment procurement and commissioning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review mechanical designs for manufacturability and collaborate with the design team to resolve issues before production
- Develop and own manufacturing processes for composites layup, injection molding, additive manufacturing, and machining
- Design facility layouts and material/process flows using industrial engineering principles
- Specify, procure, and commission production equipment; write statements of work, evaluate vendors, and oversee installation
- Partner with external vendors and equipment suppliers to deliver tooling and parts to specification
- Design and prototype mechanical assemblies and process-specific tooling, validating with load calculations, tolerance analysis, FEA, and weight budgets
- Manage cross-functional collaboration between internal engineering teams and external partners
This is not assembly-line work. Every jig, mold, and process step is designed for repeatability at volumes the traditional aerospace supply chain was never built for. You will turn raw composites, electronics, and systems into flawless aircraft repeatedly at scale.
The role is based in Hoskote, Bangalore (company headquarters), in-office with alternate Saturdays. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, relocation assistance, and daily travel stipend.
