Anduril Industries is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to own the industrialization of the Altius family of air-launched autonomous aerial systems. This role bridges cutting-edge R&D and high-rate production for a premier platform serving the U.S. military and allies.
You will orchestrate the entire manufacturing value chain for Altius, from current production rates to high-volume deployment. Responsibilities span design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback integration, tool design and selection, high-rate production line creation and optimization, strategic vendor partnerships, quality assurance embedding, and comprehensive process documentation.
Key responsibilities include executing manufacturing from prototyping through full-scale production; collaborating with design engineers to embed DFM best practices; serving as manufacturing liaison for mechanical fabrication and avionics; owning manufacturing documentation (MBOMs, work instructions, requirements); advising on quality management programs; defining capacity planning to meet customer needs; analyzing metrics for continuous improvement (cost reduction, quality improvement, capacity increase); fostering innovation and accountability within the team; developing production and test methodologies; and traveling to suppliers and partner sites for sourcing, troubleshooting, and process implementation.
The position is permanently based in Ashville, OH, but requires temporary relocation for a comprehensive 3-month training program: 1 month in Santa Ana, CA, followed by approximately 2 months in Atlanta, GA. Anduril fully covers corporate housing, transportation, and travel accommodations during training.
Required qualifications include a degree in a technical field (engineering, math, or hard science preferred); 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or electromechanical hardware design; demonstrated ability to deliver electromechanical hardware in resource-constrained environments; world-class mission assurance and quality focus; genuine interest in manufacturing and continuous learning; flexibility for extended hours and weekends during critical business priorities; and willingness to travel regularly between locations.
