Base Power is seeking a Manufacturing Controls Engineer to design and implement manufacturing lines for battery backup systems at scale. You will be responsible for the end-to-end development of production systems, from initial concept through mass production ramp. This role bridges hardware and software, requiring you to design PLC-based control systems that integrate modern software stacks with traditional industrial automation. You'll work hands-on with full-scale production equipment, including industrial robots and electro-mechanical systems, performing commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization across multiple Base facilities.
Key responsibilities include designing manufacturing lines for new products entering mass production for the first time, developing controls systems using PLC logic (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) paired with contemporary software approaches, and establishing hardware/software standards for future equipment. You will lead machine suppliers through design reviews and factory acceptance testing, coordinate cross-functional teams, and contribute to production line success at any Base facility.
Required qualifications: 3+ years programming experience with PLCs or industrial controllers; hands-on experience programming and configuring industrial robots (Fanuc, KUKA); electrical schematic design using ePLAN or AutoCAD; manufacturing environment experience; troubleshooting and repair of electro-mechanical devices; familiarity with hand tools and diagnostic equipment like multimeters; Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
