Relay Therapeutics seeks a Manager of Pharmaceutics and Drug Product Development to lead formulation development activities supporting pre-clinical research and early-stage clinical programs. You will be responsible for designing and developing fit-for-purpose discovery formulations of investigational compounds, conducting pre-formulation and formulation development studies to support initial clinical formulations and IND filings, and executing in-use and R&D stability studies (chemical, physical, thermal, and photo-stability). You will coordinate with drug substance, DMPK, toxicology, and analytical teams to ensure timely manufacture, release, and supply of formulations for dose range finding and GLP studies. Collaboration with drug discovery groups (Medicinal Chemistry, Biology, DMPK, Toxicology) is essential to develop formulation protocols for their respective studies. You will design, develop, and execute plans for manufacturing, testing, and analysis of pre-clinical and early-stage clinical formulations at CROs and CDMOs. Additional responsibilities include collating and interpreting scientific data, presenting findings in technical meetings, designing polymorph and salt screening studies, performing developability risk assessments, and monitoring project completion. The ideal candidate holds a Master's or advanced degree in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or related fields, with 6+ years of relevant experience in early-stage formulation development for small molecules with a focus on oral dosage forms. Hands-on experience with fit-for-purpose preclinical and clinical formulations (solutions, suspensions, emulsions, tablets, capsules) and poorly soluble compound formulations (solid dispersions, nano-suspensions, lipid formulations, particle size reduction) is required. Strong understanding of analytical techniques (HPLC, UPLC, UV-visible, IR, PXRD, DSC/TGA, DVS, GC, KF, particle size analysis, SEM) and pharmaceutics principles is essential. Experience with PBPK modeling and in silico models is a plus. You must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize, and proven ability to collaborate effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
