Clio is seeking a Manager of Systems Engineering to build and lead the Platform Team in APAC from Sydney. This is a foundational build role where you'll hire and grow a team of engineers responsible for Clio's Azure cloud infrastructure, internal developer tools, and platform reliability globally. Your team will own the reliability, scalability, and security of Clio's cloud systems, enabling engineering teams to ship software quickly and confidently. You'll establish SRE practices in the region, define service-level objectives (SLOs) and error budgets, and drive automation to reduce operational toil. Key responsibilities include recruiting and onboarding engineers for your APAC team, defining and maintaining SLOs for production systems, ensuring infrastructure reliability and security following cloud and SRE best practices, partnering with Development, Security, and Product teams on strategic initiatives, overseeing incident response and post-mortems, driving automation and tooling across Azure environments and CI/CD pipelines, implementing monitoring and observability standards, and fostering a culture of blameless post-mortems and knowledge sharing. You bring proven experience leading platform, SRE, or systems engineering teams, ideally with early-stage team building. Deep Azure expertise is essential, including architecture, services, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred). You have hands-on experience with SLOs/SLIs, CI/CD systems (Buildkite, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), Kubernetes, containerization, monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK), and software development (Python, Go, Ruby, Bash). Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills are critical, with a track record of attracting and retaining talent. Bonus qualifications include multi-region Azure management at scale, service ownership models, on-call rotation practices, cost optimization and FinOps principles, and hands-on experience with runbooks and self-healing systems. Clio offers competitive, equitable salary with top-tier health benefits, hybrid work (minimum twice weekly in Sydney office), flexible time off (20 days encouraged annually), and a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
