Nirvana is a venture-backed commercial insurance technology company using AI and real-time IoT telematics data to revolutionize risk scoring, underwriting, and claims. The company has raised $270M+ (Series D in December 2025) and serves thousands of fleets with 55+ billion telematics miles of data.
You will lead a team of Business Development Managers and own strategic growth for a defined portfolio of agency partners. You'll manage relationships at the agency leadership level while your team owns producer-level relationships, translating market insights into executable growth plans.
Key responsibilities include:
- Hiring, coaching, and developing your BD team
- Developing and driving strategic growth plans for your agency portfolio, incorporating market trends and competitive landscape analysis
- Building and maintaining relationships with agency leadership to align on growth strategies and production targets
- Designing and implementing incentive programs that motivate agencies to hit or exceed targets
- Overseeing contract creation, negotiation, and renewal with agencies
- Ensuring agency compliance with regulatory requirements in coordination with legal
- Leading business reviews with agency leadership on KPIs, growth initiatives, and premium goals
- Training agents and brokers on underwriting guidelines
- Serving as primary point of contact for resolving billing and operational issues
- Representing Nirvana at industry conferences, associations, and client meetings
- Recommending process and tactical improvements based on market feedback
- Traveling approximately 50% of the time
You bring 8+ years in commercial insurance (strong preference for commercial auto/transportation), 8+ years of field sales and/or program marketing experience, and 2+ years leading and developing teams. You have executive presence, strong communication skills, a track record of exceeding targets, and comfort operating in high-growth, ambiguous startup environments. An existing network among transportation agents and brokers is preferred.
