ClearGov is building the modern financial operating layer for the public sector, helping US local governments and school districts plan, budget, report, and communicate their finances. The company serves over 2,000 public sector organizations with a platform that connects financial planning, reporting, compliance, and transparency workflows.
This Manager, Software Engineering role leads the Platform Services group, overseeing engineering execution of core platform capabilities. Key responsibilities include:
• Leading delivery and engineering execution of the Platform Services group
• Owning development and delivery of platform features supporting planning, budgeting, reporting, and financial data management
• Driving architectural consistency for shared financial data models across the platform
• Leading platform migration initiatives using safe deployment strategies (parallel schemas, feature flags, phased cutovers)
• Managing, mentoring, coaching, and developing software engineers to foster technical growth and high performance
• Leading engineering planning, prioritization, and execution for predictable, timely delivery
• Supporting continuous improvement of team processes, incident response, and release readiness
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, maintainable solutions
Required qualifications:
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, business administration, commerce, or engineering
• Minimum 8 years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated success leading engineering teams in SaaS
• Strong experience with SQL and relational databases, particularly in financial, reporting, or ERP systems
• Experience designing and developing APIs and integration solutions
• Knowledge of data import/export processes and integration patterns
• Experience with background processing and event-driven architectures
• Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, and production support practices
• Experience building and supporting multi-tenant SaaS platforms
