Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, offering buy-now-pay-later solutions without hidden fees or compounding interest. The International Accelerator Engineering team is a full-stack, Europe-based group building Affirm's direct-to-consumer products for Canada, the UK, and future international markets, including the Affirm App and related consumer-facing tools. As Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow this distributed team, owning the full software lifecycle from strategy through production. Key responsibilities include: defining technical roadmaps that translate international growth objectives into executable engineering plans; hiring, developing, and retaining engineers at all levels while creating meaningful career growth paths; driving cross-functional alignment with product, design, data science, and business partners across time zones; championing engineering excellence through standards for reliability, performance, and scalability on products serving millions of consumers globally; and fostering a culture of ownership, curiosity, and builder's mindset where impact is rigorously measured. You will operate in a fast-paced, agile environment shipping code to production frequently, with a focus on solving complex problems through exceptional engineering. The role requires balancing zoom-in technical depth with zoom-out strategic thinking, context-switching across geographies and regulatory environments, and maintaining high standards for craft and reliability. Required qualifications: 10+ years software engineering experience including 4+ years leading and growing engineering teams in product-focused environments; demonstrated track record shipping and scaling consumer-facing products, ideally in direct-to-consumer or fintech; experience building high-performing distributed teams with strong instincts for engineer development; strong cross-functional partnership and influence skills; experience with international or multi-market product development; CS/Engineering degree or equivalent; fluent English (written and verbal).
